Popcorn Fundraising

Help raise money for the Pack! Sell Popcorn!
  • When: September - December
  • Where: Your neighborhood or Online
  • Contact: popcorn@pack-275.com

Process
For 2022, we're doing "Online Direct" sales only, using the "Trails End" app and website.  Scouts can still go door-to-door to take orders, but the orders will ship directly to our supporters.  We will not be managing inventory, and we will not be hosting booths outside hardware stores, etc.

If someone wants to support a scout without buying popcorn, send them here:

How to Register for Trails End
Same app/website as last year, so if you have the same scout, you can use the same credentials.  If you're starting fresh with a new scout, here's how to register:
  1. Go to www.trails-end.com >> Register >> Parent, on behalf of my Scout
  2. Fill out the prompts
  3. When prompted for Unit Selection:

How To Sell
  • Open the app on your phone or tablet
  • Click "Online Direct"
  • Click "Start Sale"
    • Click to add an item to the cart
    • Swipe left to delete an item from the cart
    • Swipe right for details on an item
  • Click Checkout to start the checkout
    • TIP -- you can share the in-progress order from the checkout screen, which will allow your customer to complete the order on their own phone without touching yours.  Just click the share icon on the top right.
Tips for Selling in Person
  • Emphasize the fundraising aspect and that ~75% goes to supporting the scouts.  People get sticker shock if they're thinking about buying popcorn rather than about supporting scouting.  The popcorn is more like a tasty reminder of the support they provided.
  • Lots of people are home on Saturday mornings.  10-12 is a sweet spot for selling.  If someone opens a door, a scout is very likely to make a sale.
  • Scouts should wear their class A uniforms when selling.  A cute kid in a uniform is hard to resist.
  • Motivate your scout by setting goals and earning prizes.  https://www.trails-end.com/rewards

Tips for Selling to Remote Family and Friends

Since the sales are "online direct", remote family and friends can support your scout from anywhere in the US!
• Go to your dashboard and click on one of the sharing options:

  • And/or send them this link https://www.pack-275.com/donate.html if they just want to make a donation and skip the popcorn

Why Do We Do This?
Popcorn sales are an excellent opportunity for your scout to gain self-confidence, learn about sales, help the Pack and most importantly get to know your neighbors!

Pack 275 finances our activities through two main forms of funding: the Annual Pack Fee and Trails End Popcorn Sales. The annual pack fee is spent primarily on books, neckerchiefs, slides,  hats, belt loops, and patches.  New scouts also get a class B red t-shirt.  The fundraising that we do through popcorn helps subsidize a number of our Pack activities, such as:
  • Pinewood Derby
  • Block parties
  • Site reservations
  • Scholarships for those in need
Without the fundraising, we would need a higher pack fee.
