March in a Parade
Mark your calendars for the Annual Thanksgiving Parade in downtown Silver Spring! Please be sure to sign-up for the parade so we know who is coming - wear your uniform but also dress appropriately for the weather. Sign Up Here IMPORTANT - Parking Park at or near or near the public garage on Silver Spring Avenue and Fenton Street, near the Fire Station 1 restaurant, (fyi: the parade ends near here) then walk over and meet on the 2nd Level of the Town Square parking garage across from Veterans Plaza at . (map & directions). Pack organizers will arrive at 8:00 to check in - early help is appreciated. Allow plenty of time to park and don't rely on Georgia Avenue to drive because it will be shut down for the parade. NOTE: Unfortunately due to safety protocol changes - no handouts (candy or otherwise) are allowed this year. KEY INFO:
Where to Meet: Silver Spring Town Square Garage Pack 275 will assemble in the Garage on Ellsworth and Fenton. It's across from Veterans Plaza and the Silver Spring Civic Center in downtown Silver Spring. When to Arrive: Scouts should arrive by 9:45 a.m. It takes awhile to get the pack and other participants lined up and to reach the parade route start. If you’re late, still try to find the pack in the garage level or parade line moving down the garage ramp toward the Ellsworth Drive entrance. How to Dress: All scouts and leaders should be in full uniform Scout shirts should be worn on top of any base layers. Please check the forecast and dress appropriately for the weather. You're going to be on TV! So look your best! What to Bring:
Where to Park: NOT at Town Square Garage No parking is allowed in the Town Square Garage - it is for parade assembly ONLY. Parade participants should park at or near the garage between Silver Spring Avenue, Sligo Avenue, and Fenton Street. This is at the end of the parade route so you will be back at your car as the parade ends. Where to Meet at the End: Fire Station 1 Restaurant & Brewing Company When the parade ends, Pack 275 will gather around the Fire Station 1 Restaurant sign on Silver Spring Avenue. Parents should meet their scout at that location. If someone other than a parent is planning to pick up your son, please let us know. Remember: News Channel 8 will again be broadcasting the parade live, so be sure to set your recorder to catch all the action after the parade ends.
